Watching this (and fearing broken ankles with each loop) I can’t helping thinking about that old quote Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels.

But no, if you watch closely you’ll see she doesn’t even step on the last chair. That means she had to trust that fucker to lift her gently to the ground while he was spinning down onto that chair. That takes major guts. I’d be pissing myself and fearing a broken neck if I were in her place. Kudos to her.

I can’t stop watching this.

#I watched this for too long to not reblog

She just steps right onto air!

We had a lot of trouble with western mental health workers who came here immediately after the genocide and we had to ask some of them to leave.

They came and their practice did not involve being outside in the sun where you begin to feel better. There was no music or drumming to get your blood flowing again. There was no sense that everyone had taken the day off so that the entire community could come together to try to lift you up and bring you back to joy. There was no acknowledgement of the depression as something invasive and external that could actually be cast out again.

Instead they would take people one at a time into these dingy little rooms and have them sit around for an hour or so and talk about bad things that had happened to them. We had to ask them to leave.

~A Rwandan talking to a western writer, Andrew Solomon, about his experience with western mental health and depression.

This is so important.

Never thought of it this way.

Hi guys!  I’m curious about this lack of sound issue last night. For people that couldn’t hear the scene between Mason and Lydia, what timezone & service provider were you using? Wondering if there’s a common thread somewhere…

Thanks!

ETA - Also, what kind of speaker set up do you have? Standard stereo/5.1/other? Watching in SD or HD?  Thank you everyone!  This is very helpful!

?

Cox cable, HD, EST - heard the music but no dialog.
